White crystalline powder, soluble in methanol, ethanol, DMSO and other organic solvents, derived from Forsythia.

Uses

(+)-Sylvatesmin is a useful research chemical compound found ias a lignan of forysthia intermedia.

Biological Activity

Phillygenin is an active component of Forsythia, which has many medicinal values, such as antioxidants, lowering blood lipids, and inhibiting low-density lipoprotein oxidation.

in vitro

1) Phillygenin shows a greater inhibition on mouse B16 melanoma cells potential than vincristine.
2) phillygenin had notable scavenging activity against DPPH, ABTS radicals, as well as potent reducing power in FRAP assay. < /p>

in vivo

The reference for rat is 5.6 mg/ml ( iv).
