Cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVPP) is a cross-linked polymer insoluble in water, strong acids, strong bases and general organic solvents that is polymerized by vinylpyrrolidone monomers under specific conditions. As an important polymer fine chemical product, PVPP has many excellent and unique properties, and has been widely used in cosmetics, food, medicine and other fields.

Application

Used in the beverage and pharmaceutical industries. Due to the high molecular weight and cross-linked structure of crospovidone, it is insoluble in water, but it can promptly swell its network structure and produce disintegration in water. It is widely used in medicine for the disintegration of tablets In addition, it is widely used as a suspension stabilizer, a complexing agent for pharmaceutical ingredients, and a complexing agent for tannins and polyphenols in plant medicines. Cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP-P) can form complexes with phenols and alkaloids, thereby removing them from plant samples, which prevents modification and interference with proteins in order to more accurately determine protein content . It has also been reported that cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP-P) can increase enzyme activity.
