Steps:

1 Synthesis of 3, 4-dibromobutanone (2)
Synthesis of the intermediate compound 2 was carried out according to the previously reported procedure [20]. A solution of 20 bromine (23.03g, 0.144mol) in 51 dichloromethane (20mL) was added dropwise at -10°C to a stirred solution of α,β-unsaturated butanone (10g, 0.143mol) in dichloromethane (20mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at 0°C for 20min. Then saturated 52 sodium thiosulfate was added, and the organic layer was washed with water, brine and dried over anhydrous Na₂SO₄, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. Compound 19 2 (31.61g, 96.3% yield) was obtained as a pale yellowish oil, used further for next step without purification.
