ChemicalBook CAS DataBase List 1,3-Dichloropropane

1,3-Dichloropropane synthesis

14synthesis methods
1,3-Dichloropropane is obtained by the action of propylene glycol with hydrochloric acid.
1,3-Dichloropropane synthesis: A process for the preparation of 1,3-dichloropropane by reacting bis(3-hydroxypropyl)ether with hydrogen chloride, optionally in the presence of tertiary basic nitrogen compounds or other tertiary aliphatic bases as catalysts, distilling off the 1,3-dichloropropane and the water of reaction and working up the two phases.
Process for the preparation of 1,3-dichloropropane

Yield:142-28-9 97.2%

Reaction Conditions:

with hydrogenchloride;ammonium chloride in water at 60 - 107; for 3 h;

Steps:

2 Example 2 The preparation method of 1,3-dichloropropane, the steps as follows:

Into a 1000ml reaction flask with oil-water separator and condenser,Put in 400 grams of water, 5 grams of ammonium chloride, and 322 grams of 1,3-propanediol in sequence, and stir and raise the temperature to 60°C;Start to pass HCL gas. When the clear and transparent reaction liquid in the reaction flask becomes milky white, continue to pass HCL gas, increase the temperature of the reaction liquid to 107°C, and start reflux and liquid separation;As the reflux reaction progresses, there is stratification in the oil-water separator, and the reflux reaction is 3 hours.The molar ratio of 1,3-propanediol and HCL gas is 1:3; the lower water phase is refluxed into the reaction flask, and the upper oil layer is 1,3-dichloropropane separated and collected.The purity was 99.7% by HPLC, and the yield based on 1,3-dichloropropane was 97.2%.
