A solution of compound 36-1 (1.0 g, 5.3 mmol) and NaCN (520 mg, 10.6 mmol) in DMSO (10 mL) was stirred at 30 ⁰C overnight. TLC showed the reaction was completed. The mixture was diluted with water (30 mL), and extracted with ethyl acetate (50 mL). The organic layer was washed by water (10 mL x 5) and NaHCOs (sat., 20 mL), dried over anhydrous Na₂SO₄, and concentrated. The residue was purified by flash chromatography to give 36-2 as colorless oil (360 mg, yield: 50%).
