Reaction Conditions:

with hydrogenchloride in methanol;water at 29.84; for 2 h;

Steps:

2.1. Synthesis, crystal growth and dehydration of DPC-HH
Diisopropylammonium chloride (DPC) was synthesized by dissolvingequimolar ratio of diisopropylamine (>98%, Alfa Aesar) and hydrochloricacid (37%, Merck) in methanol (99.9% HPLC Grade, Sigma). Thechemicals obtained were used without any further purification. Theprepared solution was stirred at 500 rpm continuously for about 2 husing magnetic stirrer at room temperature (303 K). After that the solution was kept for slow evaporation at room temperature. Nonucleation was observed in the solution over a period of next 15 daysand suddenly many crystal nucleation were appeared on the top surfaceof the solution next day owing to the generation of comparatively highersupersaturation on the surface of the solution and interestingly after fewdays of growth, the crystals were diffused into the solution and settled atthe bottom of the vessel due to subsequent gaining of weight. The growncrystals were having thin elongated plate like morphology, laterconfirmed as DPC-HH and were harvested carefully after drying out forfurther characterization.
