(b) Hydrogenation of 4-(4-nitrophenoxy)pyridine in methanol (MeOH) at room temperature using Pd/C as a catalyst. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was filtered through diatomaceous earth and washed with methanol (MeOH). Subsequently, the filtrate was concentrated by evaporation. The resulting residue was recrystallized using a solvent mixture of ethyl ether and petroleum ether (2:1, v/v), pumped, washed with petroleum ether and dried under reduced pressure at 40 °C overnight. Brown crystals of 4-(4-aminophenoxy)pyridine (compound 2) were finally obtained in a yield of 50.94 g in 76% yield. | [References]
