2-Benzyloxyethylamine Hydrochloride is used to synthesize single and double-chain fluorocarbon and hydrocarbon galactosyl amphiphiles with anti-HIV-1 activities. | [Synthesis]
General procedure for the synthesis of 2-benzyloxyethylamine hydrochloride from the compound (CAS: 634925-24-9): to a solution of ether (10 mL) of the product obtained in step 2 (4 g, 15.93 mmol) was slowly added an ether solution (20 mL) of 4N HCl. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was filtered and the filter cake was washed with hexane. Subsequently, the product was dried under vacuum to afford 2-benzyloxyethylamine hydrochloride in the form of an off-white solid (2 g, 83% yield). The structure of the product was confirmed by 1H-NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6): δ 3.01 (t, J = 5.20 Hz, 2H), 3.63 (t, J = 5.60 Hz, 2H), 4.54 (s, 2H), 7.35-7.36 (m, 5H), 8.01 (bs, 3H). | [References]
