[Uses] 19:0 Lyso PC has been used for the quantification of lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) in microsomes by mass spectrometry. It has also been used for plasma lipidome analysis of cows.
[Definition] ChEBI: 1-nonadecanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine is a 1-O-acyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine in which the acyl group is specified as nonadecanoyl. It is a lysophosphatidylcholine 19:0 and a 1-O-acyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine. It is functionally related to a nonadecanoic acid.
[Biological Activity] Lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) modifies various biological functions in different cell-typeslike endothelial cellssmooth muscle cellsmonocytesmacrophages and T-cells. It is associated with atherosclerosis and inflammatory diseases. LPC stimulates many second messengers includingprotein kinase Cextracellular-signal-regulated kinases and protein tyrosine kinases.
