Example 2003: Compound 2003A (400 mg, 2.0 mmol) was dissolved in 10 mL of tetrahydrofuran (THF) and sodium methanolate (4 mL, 2.0 mmol) was added and reacted for 30 minutes. Subsequently, iodomethane (0.5 mL, 8.0 mmol) was added and the reaction mixture was stirred for 4 hours at room temperature. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was poured into a mixture of ethyl acetate and water. The aqueous layer was extracted twice with ethyl acetate, all organic layers were combined, washed with saturated brine solution and dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was removed by rotary evaporator and the product was purified by silica gel column chromatography to afford compounds 2003B (105 mg, 25% yield), 2003C (110 mg, 26% yield) and 2003D (106 mg, 25% yield), respectively. | [References]
