Chlorine gas was passed into a solution of benzyltrimethylammonium chloride (18.6 g, 0.1 mol) and iodine (12.7 g, 0.05 mol) in CH2Cl2 (300 mL) for 15 min; the yield of BEnzyltrimethylammonium tetrachloroiodate was 40 g (95%). | [storage]
