Step 3. Ammonia (g) was passed into a solution of THF (180 mL) containing methyl 4-fluoro-2-methyl-5-nitrobenzoate (30 g, 140.74 mmol) and the reaction was carried out for 5 hours at room temperature. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction was quenched with water (500 mL). The solid was collected by filtration to afford methyl 4-amino-2-methyl-5-nitrobenzoate as a yellow solid (24.5 g, 83% yield).LC/MS (ES, m/z): [M+H]+ 211.0.1H-NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3): δ8.85(s, 1H), 6.64(s, 1H), 3.88(s, 3H) , 2.61(s, 3H). | [References]
