Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Uses]
Althiomycin is a polyketide synthase-derived thiazole antibiotic originally isolated from S. althioticus. It is active against Gram-positive bacteria, including S. aureus, S. epidermidis, and S. pyogenes (MICs=25, 25, and 3.1 μg/mL, respectively).2 Althiomycin inhibits protein synthesis in E. coli when used at concentrations of 1 and 10 μg/mL but not in isolated rabbit reticulocytes at 100 μg/mL. | [References]
