[Synthesis]
General procedure for the synthesis of (R)-1-(4-chlorophenyl)propan-1-amine hydrochloride using compound (CAS: 1448902-54-2) as starting material: to a methanol solution (3.60 mL) of 40a (1.93 g, 7.22 mmol) was added slowly at room temperature a solution of 1,4-dioxane in 4 N HCl (3.60 mL, 14.4 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 40 minutes. After completion of the reaction, ether (Et2O) was added to the mixture and the resulting precipitate was collected by filtration to afford the target product 29a (1.30 g, 90% yield) as a colorless solid. The product was characterized by 1H NMR (500 MHz, CD3OD): δ 7.49-7.41 (m, 5H), 4.31 (dd, J = 10.0, 5.6 Hz, 1H), 1.93 (ddd, J = 15.6, 10.3, 5.4 Hz, 1H), 1.81-1.75 (m, 1H), 1.44-1.36 (m, 1H), and 0.96 (d, J = 6.8 Hz, 3H), 0.92 (d, J = 6.8 Hz, 3H). |
