BRD1 encodes a protein containing a cysteine rich region (related to that of AF10 and AF17) and is mapped to chromosome 22q13. Higher levels of expression is found in testis and several cell lines. It is alo expressed in neurons and is widely distributed in human tissues. BRD1 is associated with schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder. The gene may have possible role in neurodevelopment. |
