Step 2: 5-methoxy-2-nitrobenzamide (9.70 g, 49.4 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (250 mL) and 10% palladium carbon catalyst (2.00 g) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature and 1 atmosphere of hydrogen at 1 atmosphere for 6 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the insoluble material was removed by filtration and the filtrate was concentrated to give 2-amino-5-methoxybenzamide (8.20 g, 99% yield) as a light yellow powder. | [References]
