Vernolate is used as pesticide. | [Chemical Properties]
The pure product is a transparent liquid with an aromatic odor; the technical product is a yellowish-brown, transparent, oily liquid with a slightly pungent odor. Its bp is 149-150°C/4×103Pa, flash point >96°C, vapor pressure 1.386 Pa (25°C), relative density 0.954 (20°C), and refractive index n20D is 1.4736. It is miscible with common organic solvents and has a solubility of 90 mg/L in water at 20°C. | [Uses]
Herbicide. | [Uses]
Vernolate is used as pesticide. | [Definition]
ChEBI: S-propyl dipropylcarbamothioate is a tertiary amine. | [Agricultural Uses]
Herbicide: Vernolate is a selective herbicide used to control a
variety of weeds as their seeds germinate. These weeds
include annual broadleaf weeds, annual grasses, perennial grasses, nut sedges and seedling Johnson grass.
Agricultural crop use sites include soybeans, peanuts,
groundnuts, soya beans, maize, tobacco, and sweet potatoes. A U.S. EPA restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) as
dipropylthiocarbamic acid-S-propyl ester. Not currently
registered for use in the U.S. Not approved for use in EU
countries
