The commercial manufacture of fenoprop butotyl followed the standard industrial route for phenoxy herbicide esters: first producing fenoprop acid (2 (2,4,5 trichlorophenoxy)propionic acid) via condensation of 2,4,5 trichlorophenol with chloro or bromo propionic acid, then converting this acid to its acid chloride or another activated intermediate. This was subsequently esterified with 2 butoxyethanol, yielding fenoprop butotyl as a lipophilic ester suitable for formulation. | [Mechanism of action]
Synthetic auxin affecting nucleic acid biosynthesis and cell elongation. Systemic, selective. | [Pesticide Type]
