Chlordimeform Hydrochloride is a formamidine insecticide which possesses sublethal effects on the feeding and reproduction in the noctuid moth, Spodoptera littoralis. | [Production Methods]
Chlordimeform hydrochloride was manufactured by first producing technical-grade chlordimeform through the established formamidine route, in which the substituted aniline fragment is built and then transformed into the corresponding formamidine insecticide. Once the free base was purified to specification, it was converted into the hydrochloride salt by controlled reaction with hydrochloric acid in aqueous or mixed-solvent media, yielding a crystalline, water-compatible salt that was easier to handle and formulate. | [Mechanism of action]
Broad-spectrum acaricide that appears to interfere with the amine-mediated control of nervous and endocrine systems. Antifeedant. | [Pesticide Type]
Acaricide; Insecticide; Ovicide |
