1. Salt Dissolution: At room temperature, add 1 part bismuth nitrate and 2 parts distilled water, along with sorbitol, and stir for 30 minutes to dissolve. Adjust the pH to approximately 12.3 with 40% KOH, and filter through filter paper to remove undissolved particles. Set aside. 2. Sol: Prepare a pectin slurry with a pectin:distilled water ratio of 1:12. Add pectin equivalent to 1.07 times the amount of bismuth nitrate. Stir for 60 minutes until a slightly viscous, uniform gel without white lumps is formed. Set aside. 3. Synthesis: Slowly pour the prepared bismuth solution into the pectin sol, stir well, and react at room temperature for 1 hour. The pH of the reaction solution after reaction should be between 9.0 and 10.0. 4. Gel Formation: Cool the reaction solution to 35–40°C, and add 2 parts 95% ethanol. After stirring evenly, continue cooling to below 30°C and let stand for 6-7 hours. Centrifuge at 2000-3000 r/min using a PS-150 centrifuge and collect the precipitate. The crude wet product is obtained. 5. Refining: Mix the crude wet product from the previous step with distilled water at a 1:1 ratio, slowly heat to (90±5)°C, stir for 30 minutes to form a paste, cool, and then mix the mixture with 95% ethanol at a 1:1 volume ratio. Stir evenly and centrifuge again at 2000-3000 r/min using a PS-150 centrifuge and collect the precipitate. Repeat this step multiple times to obtain the refined wet product. 6. Drying: In a vacuum drying oven with a pressure of 50-200 P, spread the refined wet product to a uniform thickness of about 1-2 cm and dry under reduced pressure at 40°C-70°C for 3-6 hours until the final weight is reached. The dried refined product is obtained. 7. Grinding: Add the dried product obtained in the previous step to a grinding machine and grind repeatedly until it reaches a 120-mesh sieve. It is used for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as chronic superficial gastritis, chronic atrophic gastritis, and gastrointestinal bleeding. When used in combination with antibiotics, it can eradicate Helicobacter pylori. It is used for Helicobacter pylori-related gastric and duodenal ulcers, chronic gastritis, gastric MALT lymphoma, postoperative early gastric cancer, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and functional dyspepsia. It can also be combined with proton pump inhibitors (proton pump inhibitors and H2 receptor antagonists) in a quadruple therapy regimen as salvage treatment after failure to eradicate Helicobacter pylori.
