Using p-bromo-1-iodobenzene (4-bromo-1-iodobenzene, Aldrich, 2g, 7.07 mmol) and 2-hydroxyphenylboronic acid (2-hydroxyphenylboronic acid, Aldrich, 1.073g, 7.78 mmol) as raw materials, under argon protection, Pd(PPh3)4 ( 0.204g, 0.177mmol) was dissolved in a mixed solvent of 1,4-dioxane (30mL) and water (10mL) and K3PO4 (2.251g, 10.60mmol) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred and reacted at 100 °C overnight. After completion of the reaction, the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure, extracted by adding dichloromethane (DCM), the organic phase was washed with water and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The organic phase was concentrated under reduced pressure to afford the target product 4'-bromo-[1,1'-biphenyl]-2-ol (4'-bromo-[1,1'-biphenyl]-2-ol, 1.85 g, 6.54 mmol, 92% yield) as a brown oil.LCMS analysis: (M+H)+ = 247-249; retention time (Rt) = 3.52 LCMS analysis: (M+H)+ = 247-249; retention time (Rt) = 3.52 min.
