General procedure for the synthesis of 2,3-dichloro-6-hydroxypyridine from 2,3-dichloro-6-methoxypyridine: 2,3-dichloro-6-methoxypyridine (211 mg, 1.19 mmol) was mixed with 25% aqueous hydrochloric acid (9 mL) and placed in a microwave reactor and heated to react for 15 min at 150°C. The reaction was carried out in a microwave oven. After completion of the reaction, the reaction solution was concentrated to dryness in vacuum to give a light green solid product 2,3-dichloro-6-hydroxypyridine (173 mg, 89% yield). Product characterization data: mass spectrum (ESI) m/z: 164/166 ([M + H]+).
