- in assay for the determination of binding activity of C-reactive protein for polycationic ligands
| [Uses]
Poly-L-arginine hydrochloride has been used:
- to generate complex with stimulatory RNA isRNA9.2 as in neutrophils
- used in ribosomal RNA transfection into human monocytic THP-1 cells
- for coating alginate capsule beads
| [General Description]
Poly-L-arginine hydrochloride (PLA) is a homopolyamino acid. PLA enhances membrane permeability compared to poly-L-lysine. It has applications as drug carrier, neuroprotective agent and in anticancer vaccines preparations. Peptide vaccines in conjugation with PLA promotes antigen-presenting cells (APCs) to generate T cell and elicit immunostimulant functionality. | [Biochem/physiol Actions]
Poly-L-arginine (PLA) possesses anti-bacterial activity. It has a greater capacity to enhance membrane permeability. PLA at lower concentration enhances cell proliferation and at higher concentration acts as antiproliferative agent. |
