Commercial production of dimefluthrin follows a multistep process. 2,3,5,6 tetrafluoro 4 (methoxymethyl)benzyl alcohol fragment, is prepared first. The two components are then coupled via esterification, typically using base catalysis to drive formation of the ester bond.
