Flubendiamide is a new insecticide that has been found to give excellent control of lepidopterous pests of tomato. | [Definition]
ChEBI: Flubendiamide is an organofluorine insecticide. It has a role as a ryanodine receptor modulator. It is functionally related to a phthalamide. | [Production Methods]
The commercial production of flubendiamide follows a concise three-step amide coupling sequence. First, 3-iodophthalic anhydride is reacted with 2-methyl-4-heptafluoroisopropylaniline in acetic acid at 100 DegC to form the monoamide acid. This is activated as the acid chloride using thionyl chloride in toluene at 70 DegC. The acid chloride is then coupled with 1,1-dimethyl-2-(methylsulfonyl)ethylamine in dichloromethane with triethylamine at 0–20 DegC, yielding crude flubendiamide. | [General Description]
Flubendiamide is a novel insecticide that is grouped under the family of phthalic acid diamides. It is largely used against lepidopteron pests in various annual and perennial crops. | [Mechanism of action]
Exhibits larvicidal activity as an orally ingested toxicant by targeting and disrupting the Ca2+ balance. Ryanodine receptor modulator. | [Pesticide Type]
