The commercial scale manufacturing process of fluothiuron is not available in open literature. However, based on its structure its industrial synthesis would have followed the standard route used for substituted phenylurea herbicides: preparation of the halogenated thiophenyl isocyanate or carbamoyl chloride intermediate, introduction of the chlorodifluoromethylthio group via halogenation and thiolation, and final condensation with dimethylamine to form the N,N dimethylurea moiety. | [Mechanism of action]
