Disodium 4-amino-5-hydroxy-3-[[4'-[(4-hydroxyphenyl)azo][1,1'-biphenyl]-4-yl]azo]-6-(phenylazo)naphthalene-2,7-disulphonate is a type of direct dye, which is relatively inexpensive but has poor wash resistance. It can be used as a dye and also as a pharmaceutical intermediate. In addition, it can be used to prepare supramolecular pigments with multi-component chromogenic anion co-intercalation—two or more different colored anions are simultaneously inserted between layers of hydrotalcite, and the pigment color is controlled by adjusting the ratio of anions.

disodium 4-amino-5-hydroxy-3-[[4'-[(4-hydroxyphenyl)azo][1,1'-biphenyl]-4-yl]azo]-6-(phenylazo)naphthalene-2,7-disulphonate is an azo compound. Azo, diazo, azido compounds can detonate. This applies in particular to organic azides that have been sensitized by the addition of metal salts or strong acids. Toxic gases are formed by mixing materials of this class with acids, aldehydes, amides, carbamates, cyanides, inorganic fluorides, halogenated organics, isocyanates, ketones, metals, nitrides, peroxides, phenols, epoxides, acyl halides, and strong oxidizing or reducing agents. Flammable gases are formed by mixing materials in this group with alkali metals. Explosive combination can occur with strong oxidizing agents, metal salts, peroxides, and sulfides.

[Properties and Applications]

Dark green. Soluble in water for blue light green, soluble in soluble fiber element, and adequate soluble in ethanol and acetone, insoluble in other organic solvents. In the dark for the strong sulfuric acid to blue-black, after dilute black precipitation; In nitric acid partly dissolved, from brown into a red. The dye solution to join strong hydrochloric acid have Gray light purple precipitation; Add thick dark blue purple sodium hydroxide solution precipitation. Suitable for cellulose fiber, silk, polyamide fiber dyeing and printing, also suitable for leather and paper color.
