Flucofuron is used as a pesticide for having pesticidal utility against pests in Phyla Arthropoda, Mollusca, and Nematoda. | [Definition]
ChEBI: A urea derivative having two 4-chloro-3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl substituents at the N-1 and N-3 positions. | [Production Methods]
Commercial manufacture of flucofuron centres on assembling its bis substituted phenylurea structure through reaction of appropriately functionalised aromatic intermediates. A 4 chloro 3 trifluoromethylphenyl isocyanate is coupled with an amine bearing partner to form the urea linkage, typically under anhydrous, high boiling organic solvents and controlled heating to drive completion. After condensation, the crude urea derivative is purified by resin treatment and solvent processes, then isolated as a high melting white solid suitable for formulation. | [Mechanism of action]
Inhibits the synthesis of the enzyme required to break down keratin | [Pesticide Type]
Insecticide; Acaricide |
