2-Fluoroacrylic Acid is a monomeer used for the preparation of fluoropolymers . It is also used a s a reactant for the preparation of fluorolactams. | [Synthesis]
In a 250 mL four-necked flask, 2-fluoroacrylaldehyde (8.89 g, 0.12 mol), m-CPBA (26 g, 0.15 mol) and dichloromethane (30 g) were added. The reaction mixture was stirred at 20 °C for 2 hours. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was cooled to about 0 °C and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated to dryness to give crude 2-fluoroacrylic acid. The crude product was recrystallized from n-heptane (10 g) to give purified 2-fluoroacrylic acid in 92% yield. | [References]
