2-Chloro-4-methylquinazoline was prepared by reacting 4-methylquinazolin-2(3H)-one as starting material in the presence of phosphorus trichloride and hydrochloric acid, referring to the method of Example 27c. The reaction yield was 67% of the theoretical value, and the product was detected by thin layer chromatography (silica gel plate, unfolding agent was petroleum ether/ethyl acetate=7:3) with an Rf value of 0.81. | [References]
