Chlorotrimethylsilane (0.33 g, 3 mmol) was slowly added dropwise to a solution of 1-(4-iodophenyl)cyclopropanecarboxylic acid (0.86 g, 3 mmol) in methanol (15 mL) at 0 °C. After the dropwise addition, the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. After completion of the reaction, the solvent was removed by vacuum evaporation to afford methyl 1-(4-iodophenyl)cyclopropanecarboxylate (0.9 g, 100% yield).
