This product is a brown or brownish powder with a slight characteristic odor and is odorless. The melting point is 120°C. It is soluble in water but virtually insoluble in methanol, chloroform, benzene, cyclohexane, etc. This product is a proteoglycan with a protein content of 25%-30%. It exhibits anti-tumor activity both in vivo and in vitro. Its anti-tumor effect is related to its ability to stimulate the body's anti-tumor immune function. Yunzhi polysaccharide can enhance cellular immunity and promote delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions and lymphocyte proliferation. It can also increase the production of interferon, interleukin 1 and 2, and prostaglandins. It can also restore low IgG and IgM levels in tumor-bearing animals to normal. However, it does not enhance the phagocytic function of macrophages in tumor-bearing animals. After oral administration, Yunzhi polysaccharide is absorbed from the digestive tract and distributed throughout organs and tumor tissues. Approximately 70% is eliminated from the body within 24 hours, primarily through the respiratory tract in the form of carbon dioxide. | [Uses]
GLYCOPROTEIN, ALPHA1-ACID HUMAN was used to study nonviral gene delivery to the lung with copolymer-protected and transferrin-modified polyethylenimine.
| [Uses]
α1-Acid glycoprotein from human plasma has been used:
- as negatively charged protein to investigate the adsorption processes onto the surface of polyelectrolyte multilayers
- to incubate plates coated with purified antiserum in the study to investigate its serum concentration by ELISA
- to study the effect of its different concentrations on the antiviral activity of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) protease inhibitors
| [General Description]
α-1-Acid glycoprotein (AGP)/orosomucoid (ORM), a glycoprotein has a molecular weight of 41-43kDa. It is considered as one of the important acute phase proteins in humans and rats. AGP may belong to the lipocalin family. | [Biochem/physiol Actions]
α1-Acid glycoprotein possesses immunomodulating effects. It has the ability to bind to acidic drugs, like phenobarbital. | [Purification Methods]
Purify the glycoprotein 1 acid by passage through a carboxymethyl cellulose column, then through a Sephadex G-25 column. [Aronson et al. J Biol Chem 243 4564 1968.] |
