The preparation of H-D-Glu-OBzl is carried out by reduction reaction using 1-benzyl D-glutamic acid benzyl ester as the starting material [1]. Bn is often removed by catalytic hydrogenolysis, such as H2/20%Pd(OH)2-C, H2/Pd-C, H2/PdCl2, Pd/HCOOH or Pd-C/HCOOH, Pd-C/HCOONH4, Pd-C/NH2NH2 or Pd-C/cyclohexene as hydrogen source for transfer hydrogenation, while the protection by H2/Pd-C is usually very slow unless Boc2O is added to promote the departure of Bn.
