[Chemical Properties]

Pale yellow to light brown, brittle, transparent, glassy masses. Odorless or with a slight distinctive odor. Very bitter. Insoluble in water, soluble in toluene, benzene, petroleum, turpentine, linseed oil, etc., and slightly soluble in ethanol. Relative density approximately 1.08. Easily oxidized in air. Powder is pyrophoric and can spontaneously combust and explode. Softening point 80-90°C.
