以4-羟基喹啉-3-甲酸乙酯为原料合成4-羟基喹啉-3-甲酸的一般步骤如下:将4-羟基喹啉-3-甲酸乙酯(1.2 g,5.5 mmol)溶于20 mL乙醇中,随后加入0.1 g/mL的氢氧化钠水溶液(6.6 mL,16.5 mmol)。在回流条件下反应3小时。反应完成后,将反应液冷却至20℃,用4 mol/L的盐酸调节pH至4,此时有固体析出。减压蒸馏回收约10 mL溶剂乙醇后,过滤收集固体。用乙醇和水的混合液(2 mL×2次)洗涤固体,最后干燥,得到0.96 g 4-羟基喹啉-3-甲酸,产率为92%,产物为灰白色固体。
