以6-溴-2,3-二氢-1H-茚-1-醇为原料合成5-溴-1H-茚的一般步骤：将170g 6-溴-2,3-二氢-1H-茚-1-醇、1.2L羟基苯磺酸、对甲苯磺酸和8g催化剂加入反应瓶中，反应时间为3小时。反应完成后，通过蒸馏除去苯。粗产物通过快速色谱法进行纯化，得到148g 5-溴-1H-茚（呈珊瑚石油状），收率为95%。
