以2-溴-9,10-双(2-萘基)蒽和硼酸三甲酯为原料合成9,10-双(2-萘基)蒽-2-硼酸的一般步骤如下：按照EP13中所述的方法，将2-溴-9,10-双(2-萘基)蒽（10.00g，19.63mmol，1.0当量）溶解于THF（140mL）中，并将溶液冷却至-78℃。在此温度下，缓慢滴加正丁基锂（2.5M己烷溶液，10.2mL，25.52mmol，1.3当量），随后将反应混合物搅拌2小时。接着，在-78℃下加入硼酸三甲酯（6.12g，58.89mmol，3.0当量），并将反应混合物逐渐升温至室温。反应持续搅拌17小时后，用盐酸溶液淬灭反应，过滤收集生成的黄色沉淀，并用蒸馏水（2×30mL）洗涤。最后，将所得固体在真空下干燥，无需进一步纯化即可用于后续反应。产量：9.8g（100%）。
