TANTALUM HYDRIDE Chemical Properties,Uses,Production
Uses
Tantalum is an important metallic material in industry. It has a high melting point and good corrosion resistance, and its applications are wide-ranging. It is mainly used as tantalum powder and tantalum wire for sintered anodes in electrolytic capacitors, as structural materials for heating elements and insulation layers in high-temperature vacuum furnaces, and as a chemical corrosion-resistant material, high-temperature alloy, hard alloy, and superalloy. Tantalum hydride can be used to prepare tantalum.
Chemical Properties
gray, brittle with metallic luster; can form when H2 is absorbed by Ta at 450°C; hydrogen is released when TaH is heated above 800°C; material is a superconductor [KIR83]
