Biological Activity
Isochondrodendrine (Isochondrodendrin) is a class of bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloids isolated from Isolona ghesquiereina. It has strong anti-plasmid activity against Plasmodium falciparum.
in vivo
Isochondrodendrine has strong in vitro antiplasmodial activity against the chloroquine resistant strain FMC29 of Plasmodium falciparum . Toxicity observed is 50 to 100 fold greater towards Plasmodium falciparum than cultured L6 cells.
