Description
L-Arginine 2-oxopentanedioate is a pharmaceutical product that belongs to the group of drugs used to treat hyperlipidemia. The structure of this drug consists of two arginine molecules linked by an oxygen atom. It is a crystalline solid with an average particle diameter of 0.3 μm and a particle size distribution ranging from 0.05 to 1.5 μm. L-Arginine 2-oxopentanedioate has been shown to have synergistic effects with metal ions, such as magnesium, in the activation energy for reactions involving lipoprotein lipase or structural analysis of reaction solutions. It also has been shown to adsorb onto the surface of lipid particles through a mechanism that is not fully understood, but may involve hydrogen bonding between the functional groups in its molecule and hydrophobic sites on the surface of lipid particles.
