Industrial uses
The silicon bronzes are an extremely versatileseries of alloys, having high strength, exceptionalcorrosion resistance, and excellent weldability,coupled with excellent hot and coldworkability. The low silicon bronzes (1.5% silicon)are widely used for electrical hardware.The high silicon bronzes are used for structuralparts throughout industry. Al–Si bronze is animportant modification with exceptionalstrength and corrosion resistance, particularlysuited to hot working and with better machinabilitythan the regular silicon bronzes.
