General Description
Ferumoxides is a black to reddishbrown aqueous colloid of SPIO particles associated with dextran. It is administered intravenously and taken upby cells of the reticuloendothelial system (RES). It is indicatedto enhance T2-weighted images used to assess lesionsof the liver. Hepatic tissues with decreased RES function retaintheir usual signal intensity, so the contrast between abnormaland normal tissue is enhanced.
