Uses
2-Methoxyacetonitrile, is used as a building block in various chemical synthesis. It can be used for the synthesis of substituted isoquinolines and biisoquinolines for use in the construction of heterocyclic compounds.
Application
Methoxyacetonitrile is a protected formaldehyde equivalent that undergoes metalation and addition with a variety of electrophiles and intercepts a variety of nucleophiles at the cyano group.
Preparation
Methoxyacetonitrile is prepared from Formaldehyde, Sodium Cyanide, and Dimethyl Sulfate.
