General Description
4-Amino-3-phenyl-butyric acid hydrochloride is a derivative of γ-Aminobutyric Acid which possesses neuroprotective activity. GENERAL METHOD: 4-phenyl-2-pyrrolidone (0.4 mmol) and 10 mL of HCl (6.0 mol/L) were added to a round bottom flask. The reaction mixture was magnetically stirred under reflux conditions for 12 hours. After completion of the reaction, the solvent was removed by evaporation under reduced pressure to give 3-phenyl-4-aminobutyric acid hydrochloride.
