Uses
4-Cyclododecyl-2,6-dimethylmorpholine acetate is a therapeutic agricultural fungicide that is absorbed through leaves and roots, producing a systemic protective effect and effectively preventing diseases such as powdery mildew.
Production Methods
The production of dodemorph involves synthesising a morpholine ring substituted with methyl groups at the 2- and 6-positions, followed by the attachment of a bulky cyclododecyl group to the nitrogen atom. The process typically begins with the formation of the morpholine backbone through condensation of diethanolamine with formaldehyde or similar precursors. Methylation is then introduced at the appropriate ring positions using alkylating agents. The cyclododecyl moiety is added via nucleophilic substitution, where the nitrogen atom of the morpholine ring reacts with cyclododecyl halide or a similar electrophile. The final product is purified and formulated, often as dodemorph acetate or benzoate.

Dodemorph acetate: A system fungicide, one of the most recently developed, that can be applied as soil treatments. They are slowly absorbed through the roots. Dodemorph acetate is used to inhibit rusts and mildews. Not currently registered for use in the U.S. Approved for use in some EU countries and Canada
