Chemical Properties
Ambrocenide is a white crystalline material with an extremely powerful and long-lasting, woody, amber note. It is prepared from -cedrene epoxide via an acid-catalyzed ring opening reaction affording cedrane diol, which is subsequently reacted with acetone to give the acetal.
Uses
AMbrocenide is a highly impactful amber-woody fragrance molecule, primarily used as a fixative and base note enhancer in high-end fragrance formulations.

Side effects
Research has shown that ambrocenide induces trigeminal nerve reactions at a range of concentrations, manifesting as a burning or stinging sensation, and that this effect can occur even at low concentrations. Reports indicate that 77.08% of participants reported this reaction, and that the effect is primarily attributable to ambrocenide itself rather than the solvent, ethanol.
