9H-Purin-6-amine, 2-fluoro-N-(3-methoxyphenyl)- Chemical Properties,Uses,Production

Description

A novel cytokinin plant growth regulator which is a 6-anilinopurine derivative. It is not widely approved for use. Little is currently known regarding its environmental fate nor its toxicity to humans, fauna and flora.

Production Methods

Anisiflupurin is a strobilurin type fungicide, and its industrial manufacture follows the same choreography used across that family: build the substituted aromatic ether fragment, construct the beta-methoxyacrylate side chain, and then join them under controlled ester-forming conditions. Production typically begins with preparing the fluorinated phenoxy or phenyl ether intermediate through a nucleophilic aromatic substitution or Williamson-type etherification, using a protected phenol and an activated halide. In parallel, the methoxyacrylate fragment is generated from a suitable beta-ketoester precursor via O-methylation and controlled halogenation to create an activated leaving group. The key coupling step, formation of the methoxyacrylate ester, is carried out in a polar aprotic solvent with base moderation to suppress rearrangements and polymerisation. After the condensation, the crude product is neutralised, washed, and crystallised to yield technical-grade anisiflupurin.

Definition

ChEBI: Anisiflupurin is a member of the class of 6-aminopurines that is 9H-purine substituted by fluoro and (3-methoxyphenyl)amino groups at positions 2 and 6, respectively. It is a plant growth regulator developed by Syngenta crop protection AG and an inhibitor of cytokinin oxidase/dehydrogenase 2. It has a role as a plant growth regulator and a cytokinin. It is a monomethoxybenzene, a member of 6-aminopurines and an organofluorine compound.
