使用
Ammonium benzoate is used predominantly in industries which acts as a corrosion inhibitors and anti-scaling agents . It is also used as paint additives and coating additives. Other consumer uses include cleaning and furnishing Care products, paints and coatings, personal care products, water treatment products. Ammonium benzoate is also used as chemical analysis reagents, in electronics industry, used for the production of electrolytic capacitors and also used in pharmaceutical industries. Used as adhesives, metal rust treatment and rubber additives.

合成
Ammonium benzoate is obtained by liquid-phase reaction of benzoic acid with concentrated ammonia at a 1:1 molar ratio, with the ammonia kept slightly in excess to drive the reaction to completion[1]. It is also prepared by neutralization of benzoic acid, 3-chlorobenzoic acid, 3-methylbenzoic acid or 3-nitrobenzoic acid with diethylamine cations, yielding the salt and its derivative ionic liquids[2].
