| | 1,3-CYCLOOCTADIENE Usage And Synthesis |
| Uses | 1,3-Cyclooctadiene is a reagent used in the synthesis of catalytically active membranelike devices. | | Uses | 1,3-Cyclooctadiene has been used in the preparation of 2-cyclooct-2-en-1-yl-1,3-cyclooctadiene, a novel bicyclic triene. | | General Description | Enantiodifferentiating geometrical photoisomerizations of (Z,Z)-1,3-cyclooctadiene was studied using "cyclodextrin nanosponge", as a supramolecular sensitizing host. Dendrimer-encapsulated Pd-Rh bimetallic nanoparticle catalyzed partial hydrogenation of 1,3-cyclooctadiene has been reported. | | Synthesis | 1,3-Cyclooctadiene is prepared by cyclodimerization of butadiene. Procedure: Prepare the catalyst (a toluene solution of triethylaluminum, P catalyst, and N catalyst) and add it to the reactor. Butadiene is added intermittently to the reactor. The temperature is slowly raised to 85??C. The reaction temperature is controlled below 110??C. Butadiene is added dropwise when the pressure is below 0.2MPa. After all butadiene is added, the mixture is held at 108??2??C for 3 hours. After reaction, it is cooled and discharged. The reaction mixture contains 84.2% 1,5-cyclooctadiene, with a butadiene conversion of 95.3%. |
