| Uses | (6-Methylpyridin-2-yl)methanamine is a pyridine derivative studied as one of the complexing agent. | | Synthesis | General procedure for the synthesis of 6-methyl-2-pyridinemethanamine from 6-methyl-2-pyridinecarbonitrile: 6-methyl-2-pyridinecarbonitrile (10 g, 84.7 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (100 mL), and 10% palladium/carbon catalyst (1 g) was added under stirring conditions. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight under the protection of nitrogen atmosphere. Upon completion of the reaction, the solid catalyst was removed by filtration and the organic solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure to afford 6-methyl-2-pyridinemethanamine (9 g, 87% yield). | | References | [1] Patent: CN106279160, 2017, A.
